Bug at the Libary

I have already said that I don't know much about plants. I also don't know too much about bugs, but I do like to take pictures of them. This little beauty met me as I entered the American Fork Library.

City Daily Photo Blog Theme Day: The Color Blue (AND PINK, in my case!)

This big blue sign caught my eye as I drove past the American Fork Hospital. They have a cancer care center there that is wonderful. I know that because I had a good friend and a sweet aunt who received care here. They have both passed on now, but I will be forever grateful to the people who served them there.

Cancer is frequently on my mind, probably because I knew 4 people who passed away from cancer in 2006 and it really shocked me. Also, in October, I participated in "Pilates for Pink" at the American Fork Recreation Center. This was an opportunity to raise awareness of breast cancer and raise money to fight it.

Also, as we were exercising, Christy, the instructor, spouted factoids about Breast Cancer to help us be more educated about it. Of course I can't remember everything she said, but the one thing she taught me that really stuck was that exercising vigorously 3 times per week decreases your chances of breast cancer significantly. I didn't know that! Just another reason to get my buns to the gym.

Happy Halloween from American Fork Daily Photo!

Granted, this photo isn't super-duper-awesome quality, but the subject is super-duper-funny to me, so I posted it.

At the grocery store this afternoon, all of the workers were dressed up for Halloween, including this ghoul (or grim reaper?) who was putting bananas out on the display. I was trying not to look too weird by taking photos in the produce department, so I just snapped this and ran. I wish it had turned out a little better, but I can try again next year. I figured the masked produce man (woman??) wouldn't mind since it would be impossible to know who was underneath it all.

More Fall Colors and Berries

I don't know much about plants, so I can't tell you what this is. I can only say that it was so pretty, I had to take it's picture! There are still many lovely trees and plants holding onto their leaves in the valley, but we are approaching the end of the colors.
