Inside Dough Boys and Flour Girls

So, went back today for lunch. YUM! We loved it and it is just as cute inside as it looks like it should be!

We strongly recommend the chowder and the cinnamon rolls, since that is what we had. But, from the looks and smells of everything and the happy customers, I think that you would be pleased with anything. They make everything from scratch, EVEN CROISSANTS.
We would go back soon, but I am afraid that wouldn't support this blogwriter's New Year's Resolutions. In a few weeks (maybe, days?), when we have given up our resolve, we'll go back and get some more cinnamon rolls. They are fabulously ooey and gooey.

Road Trip: SLC for the first KFC

Colonal Sanders's suit. His ACTUAL suit. ACTUALLY.

Did you know that the first Kentucky Fried Chicken, or KFC (Kitchen Fresh Chicken??) was in Utah? Most people are surprised or incredulous when they here this interesting Utah factoid. Two years ago they tore down the original one (On State Street near 3900 S. in SLC) and built a new fangled one, and it is chock full of KFC memorabilia.

Does anyone remember the jingle, "KFC has an all you can eat buffet. What did you say?..."

Late Christmas Post

I can't believe I forgot to post this before Christmas. This is also a roadtrip picture, because I took it in the Deseret Book in downtown Salt Lake City. They had many interesting, beautiful, intricate and/or crazy Nativity sets and they were ALL fun to look at. This was the most different one there, an entire Nativity of snowmen.

Flour Girls and Dough Boys

The Flour Girls and Dough Boys Artisan Bakery and Cafe is a relatively new addition to the downtown area. It was formerly the Naborhood Bakery, and before that, the Bryson Bakery. My friend Heather used to make the cinnamon rolls at Bryson Bakery and they were TO DIE FOR. (The secret ingredient is turkey flour from Lehi Roller Mills.) (oh, and butter, lots of butter.)
I haven't been to the Flour Girls and Dough Boys yet, but we parked there on our way to the dollar theater tonight and I begged my hubby to take me there on a date sometime. I will have to go back and take some photos during the day, but I peeked in the window and the decor is so cute!
UPDATE: Read about how good the food is HERE.

The Night before Christmas and All Through the House...

all the creatures were stirring, snoring, crying, snorting and shuffling around all night long!

Do you like our little Charlie Brown tree? When we were first married we helped organize a children's "shoe drive" as a service opportunity for our congregation. We brought this little tree to church with small paper shoes attached with information about gender and shoe size and couples picked a shoe and brought the real shoes to us all wrapped for Christmas. We were able to deliver the shoes and actually see the recipients glee at receiving SHOES for Christmas. What a blessing it was to be involved in that project and we still use that little tree as our Christmas tree 4 years later. It is a reminder to us to always be grateful, always be generous.

Merry Christmas!

Sunset from the I-15

Heading to a Christmas party up North, I snapped this from the car.
