"You Make My Day" Award

I got 2 "You Make My Day" awards this week, one from Rambling Round and another from Jim. Thanks, you guys, isn't it funny how you said I made your day, but you TOTALLY made mine!

OK, here's the rules:

"Give the award to 10 people whose blogs bring you happiness and inspiration and make you feel happy about blogland. Let them know by posting a comment on their blog so they can pass it on. Beware you may get the award several times."

Of course, being an avid blog reader, there are many sites that touch me daily, mostly photo blogs, but of course I read all sorts.

I had trouble picking only ten, but here goes:

To bloggers who have great photos and always leaves such nice comments on my blog:
Rambling Round (You can give it back, right?)
Jim (Again, it's okay to give it back, huh?)
Mari-Nanci
Lynette

To ladies that are fun to read:
Wendy
Kathryn
Kirsty
Umily

To Digital Freebie Goodness:
Digifree
Ikeagoddess

Note to recipients: Know that this is in good fun, and meant to be a compliment, so if you want to receive the award and don't feel like you have the time to pass it on, that's OK with me. Just know that you have made my day, many times, and I appreciate your bloggy goodness!

Note to everyone else: Like I said, there are lots of awesome blogs I love, so if you didn't get a "Make My Day Award" from me, there is a chance you should have!

Still Hungry? or More Datenight Goodies

Before we went to Dippidee, we ate dinner at one of my very favorite restauraunts, the Thai Village. We ordered fresh rolls, the pineapple curry and fried bananas with ice cream. YUM!

These are the fresh rolls and they are really REALLY FRESH. When you get the chance, you have to order these!

Additional note about the chocolate wedding cake from yesterday's post: It isn't actually a real cake underneath all of that beautiful fondant icing. It was made up for a chocolate festival a few weeks ago, but doesn't it just look good enough to eat? Everything there is yummy and adorable. (Except this cake, it's just adorable!!) We shared a oatmeal fudge bar and LOVED it.

Date Night at Dippidee

Had a wonderful evening out with the hubby. Took a few photos, made a few memories, indulged on more than a few calories! Here is a yummy looking cake at the Dippidee store. I will tell more about my hot date and the decadence we enjoyed tomorrow.

Let's Go Home

This is the last of the photos from Saturday that I will post this week. Better head back to American Fork. This is the view from the top of Traverse Mountain, looking down into Utah County. I think from this vantage you can see several towns, from Highland, through American Fork and further south. The mountain you can see is Timpanogos.

Answer to Yesterday's Pop Quiz: Kennecott Copper Mine and Road Trip: Draper (3)

Thank you everyone, for playing along. The answer, as DC Confidential pointed out, is the Kennecott Copper Mine. My husband said that those of you who said that the mountains were a product of crafty photoshopping were questioning my integrity as a photographer. I, however, am thrilled to think that you imagine me such a computer wizard!

Ok, some info about Kennecott. From my own experience, I know that it is quite impressive to fly over the mine as you come into the Salt Lake International Airport.

Facts (From the Kennecott website):

Bingham Canyon Mine has produced more copper than any mine in history -- about 16 million tons.

The mine is 2¾ miles across at the top and ¾ of a mile deep. You could stack two Sears Towers on top of each other and still not reach the top of the mine.

The mine is so big, it can be seen by the space shuttle astronauts as they pass over the United States.

By 2015, the mine will be at least 500 feet deeper than it is now.

If you stretched out all the roads in the open pit mine, you'd have 500 miles of roadway -- enough to reach from Salt Lake City to Denver.

*Also, here is a video about how Kennecott is helping our community (also from the Kennecott website). It's about a minute long.
Thanks for playing along.

Road Trip: Draper

This is the first in a series of photos I will be showing you this week. After the Photowalk yesterday we drove back to AF through Draper and over Traverse Mountain. It was a spectacular day and an opportunity to take some nice photos. I particularly like this one, but it would have been better 1/10th of a second later when he looked at me and smiled! (ps. I wasn't the one driving, for those of you who worry about such things!!) Happy Sunday!!
