Veteran's Day, Observed

Last week was the 6th Annual Gingerbread House Festival at Thanksgiving Point. Although this is in Lehi, UT, it is a community-wide event. This is a fantastic event that brings the community together for a fun holiday tradition of old fashioned gingerbread houses and raises money for Utah's PTA and the Boy Scouts' Learning for Life program.

The gingerbread houses are made and donated, judged and then auctioned. They vary from traditional graham cracker-type houses made by children or scout troops, to nearly professional houses or castles and villages that took MONTHS to assemble. Last year there was a Hogwart's Castle that blew my mind! This is just a portion of a gingerbread house display titled, "I'll be home for Christmas" and as you can see it is a soldier outside of his barracks in the desert. To the left of him, you can just see a little bit of frosting snow and presents, but that is the yard to his house and his barbie wife is standing in the door. It was so touching, I thought it was appropriate for Veteran's Day.

I want to say Thank You to all of the men and women who have served or who are serving our country in the Armed Services. God Bless You!!
