City Daily Photo Blog Theme Day: What your city is known for

These four photos represent, to me, what American Fork is known for.

Top Left: This is a photo of our extremely talented and hardworking marching band. They performed in the Rose Bowl Parade a few years back and marched in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade last November. We are very proud of them. Go Cavemen!

Top Right: The LDS Mount Timpanogos Temple. Many people only know American Fork because they have seen photos of this beautiful and special building. There are many LDS people in American Fork and this building holds special significance to us.

Bottom Right: Fall colors on the Alpine Loop, American Fork Canyon. The Alpine Loop is famous for having some of the most brilliant fall colors in the country. (This is a particularly wonderful time to visit American Fork.)

Bottom Left: Mount Timpanogos. A beautiful mountain with a beautiful legend. I will share a version of it with you tomorrow. It is breathtaking in all four seasons.

All over the world, the City Daily Photo Bloggers are participating in this theme day. Follow these links to find out what their cities are known for:

Thanks for showing off your place.

OK< so now, a confession. I've been trying to conjure images of places using the LIST of names, not the thumbnails, and here's what I got for American Fork, Utah.

Utah - easy: Mormons and Mountains.
American Fork: the "special" way many Americans have of holding their fork when eating meat - a sort of stab it with the fork held upright in a fist, then saw, behind the fork - closer to the body ( the British way we inherited cuts in front of the fork (away from the body)!

You've put your area on the map as far as I'm concerned.

I surely thought of the Mormons but didn't know there was a temple in your city. We have a spectacular one here in San Diego too, but no one really things of that when they think of San Diego. :)

Such a beautiful range of colours. The winter white, and then the autumn colours make for a very interesting year.

Annie, Great choices to feature for our Theme Day. It looks so beautiful there! I spend a lot of time in LDS family history centers doing research, and have seen many temples now. This one is one of the more graceful ones architecturally. I lived near the Oakland, CA one, and that one, while beautiful, reminded me of a science fiction movie ;^). And I can appreciate that hard working band that's performed in such prestigious venues. I'll look forward to reading about the mountain tomorrow!
