Spent the afternoon at Thanksgiving Point Farm County yesterday with some of my favorite chickies.

2 Buck Tuesday: SNAKE!

This little fella was resting just under the water on top of a lilypad near the rose garden at Thanksgiving Poing Gardens.

Thanksgiving Point in Lehi is a wonderful family-friendly attraction all year round, but it becomes extremely budget-friendly in August when each location is only 2 dollars on Tuesdays. We have been to the gardens 3 times this month and it has been lovely.

Just before the Red Desert Ramblers concert last Friday at the Central Utah Gardens. The concert was fantastic. The gardens have one more FREE concert in their summer concert series:

Fair TODAY: Dutch Oven Cook-Off

I love the county fair! These are the main course entries from the dutch oven cookoff this afternoon. Everything looks fabulous! Of course we watched the dutch oven officionados work, and listened to some music, looked at the 4-H exhibits, saw the Hogle Zoo show, checked out the animals (you know I love the chickens with the WILD hair-dos) and enjoyed the clown show. We enjoyed some kettle corn but were so sad that there were no navajo tacos.

Utah County Fair

American Fork is in Utah County and this week is the Utah County Fair. The theme this year is "The Fairest of Them All" and involves a competition between the cities to see which will be crowned... "The Fairest of Them All". The fair runs Wednesday through Saturday down at the fairgrounds in Spanish Fork.

The FAIR IS FREE as well as FREE PARKING. Don't forget your wallet though, because you are bound to find something you will want to buy. Example: Navajo Tacos (YUM)

Highland Glen Park: Panorama

Stitched some photos together for a panorama at Highland Glen park last Tuesday. We meant to go Monday for family night, but the rain scared us off. Tuesday was perfect, though. We enjoyed feeding the ducks some stale hot dog buns that were kindly shared with us and watched a Boy Scout troop go the extra mile to clean up trash around the lake.

Hogle Zoo

We have been saving up our Cache Valley cheese wrappers to get into Hogle Zoo free and finally went up on Friday. What a busy but great day at the zoo! We loved the bird show so much we saw it twice.

If you don't know about the Cache Valley cheese promotion, you should! It's awesome... all you have to do is present 4 Cache Valley cheese packages (empty!) and you get a free ticket to the zoo, the Bees or the movies. You gotta hurry, because it's only until the end of July! Here are more details.

Where did McDonalds go? I came back from vacation and it was just a pile of rubble.

Chadder's Breakfast

Chadder's now offers breakfast and it is quite tasty. The kids couldn't get enough of the potato breakfast thingies and I thought the breakfast sandwiches were yummy, too. I am notorious for wrapping up leftovers and putting them in my purse, and the baby found herself a leftover sandwich a few days later and STILL thought it was good. Sorry if that grossed you out.

Spring has sprung: Seedlings

We have been anxious for spring and it really feels like it is here when I see those little plants sprouting. The past few days have been exquisite and we are waiting for today's storm with some apprehension.

The Grease Monkey Comes To Town

There's a new Grease Monkey in town. March 6th they had their grand opening, complete with TWO Grease Monkeys, balloon animals, a bouncy house and a barbecue! Look for them on State Street near Target.

Almond Fried Chicken

So there are several really good Chinese Restaurants in American Fork, but not one of them serves up a decent plate of Almond Fried Chicken. In desperation, I scoured the internet for a recipe that would resemble those tasty gooey nuggets I am used to enjoying at the Double Dragon in Kennewick. This was pretty close and pretty tasty. Unfortunately, I dirtied about every dish in my kitchen trying to put it all together, but the recipe is totally worth giving a shot.

This frozen family has been under a log in the corner of our yard and were unearthed last weekend as we moved our little raised beds. One giant frozen snail glob.
