Tour De Donut - American Fork, Utah

This morning was the first annual Tour De Donut in American Fork, in conjunction with Steel Days. The course was a 7 mile loop, biked three times. Between loops the riders could stop and eat as many donuts as they want, and take off 3 minutes from their time for each one. The website emphasized: NO PUKING!

Tree Trimming

It finally quit snowing around here (it actually just snowed last Friday!!) and it was all of a sudden a sunny 81 degrees yesterday! Today a little breeze is blowing and the weather is around 55, perfect for yardwork. People all over town are working in their yards and gardens. I think I will do the same!

Seen From I-15 (3 of 5): Too Cold to Skate

I will have to shoot some photos at the American Fork Skate Park next week when it is supposed to be warmer. We have some awesome skaters that grace our local skatepark.

Seen From I-15 (2 of 5): Rainbow Playground Equipment

This place looks like a kid's dream come true. I would love to have a swingset like this, especially with the climbing wall. Totally Rad!

April Theme Day: Water

American Fork is named after the American Fork River and is nestled next to Utah Lake, so I thought I would show them both off to you today.

I took this photo in February when it was (a lot) colder than it is now. I posted this before, but thought it was perfect for themeday this month. This is the American Fork Boat Harbor and this family is ice fishing:

And this is our beautiful American Fork River during the fall:

Also, here is a little plug for a helpful website a friend has started. It's called UnderstandHearing.com and allows you to take an online hearing test and learn more about hearing loss.

There are 178 City Daily Photo Blogs participating in Themeday this month. Check them out:

Road Trip: Mesa Verde (2)

I will be back to posting photos of my beloved American Fork, UT tomorrow, but for now, here are two more of Mesa Verde National Park. This gives you a small glimpse into why I was so amazed just being there!
Check out my American Idol predictions here on my other blog.

Road Trip: Mesa Verde

Ok, this isn't even in Utah, so I feel a little bit guilty posting it, but it's from my little vacation and I like the picture and I had A FABULOUS TIME. So don't get mad! I't s only about 5 hours from my house.
This is part of Spruce Tree House at the Mesa Verde National Park. We read an article in Sunset Magazine a few months back that listed this as one of the places you must go before you die, so we did it and we LOVED it!

Road Trip: Arches National Park (2)

You can't go to Arches National Park and not hike up to the Delicate Arch. Each time I go to Arches I am reminded of the amazing beauty and diversity that our amazing state is blessed with. It almost takes my breath away! I am so lucky that this is only 3 hours from my home.

March 2008 Theme Day: Graffiti or street mural

I've been missing for a few days and now late with my theme day post because we ran off to Moab this weekend for some sun and adventure. The weather was perfect, but we did end up driving through a blizzard in Spanish Fork Canyon on the way home.

Even though it's 3+ hours from here to Moab, I am going to show off some of the pics I took there later this week. To my knowledge, there isn't another City Daily Photo Blogger in Utah and it's a shame to not share the delicate arch with the world!

My theme day photo was taken last fall in downtown American Fork just a block from the library on Main Street.

American Fork doesn't really have what I would consider interesting graffiti, but it does have this beautiful mural downtown next to the bike shop on Main Street. Also, there are giant posters of Tahitian Noni (not pictured) on the side of the old abandoned Walmart store on 5th east, maybe I will have to show those off some time.

Enjoy Theme Day around the world by checking out these participating blogs:

Ice Fishing at the American Fork Boat Harbor and WE ARE SEEING THE POLICE IN JULY!

We woke up to cold grey skies that were unfortunately in agreement with the forecast. Happily, it turned into a nice sunny day by noon. We took a drive down to the boat harbor after a quick trip to costco for spinach, milk and frozen berries. Oh, and a hot dog, slice of pizza and a very berry smoothie.

The Photowalking Utah group is up at the Moran Eye Center today and I bet they are having a blast. We have had some sickies around here this week and didn't want to get too far from home.

Also, we are kind of Sting and the Police fanatics, and the tickets for the Salt Lake City concert on July 19th went on sale today at 10, so we had to be home to snatch up ours before they were gone!! (This will be our fourth Sting/Police concert in four years... Am I lucky, or what??!!)

So, anyway, we were sad to miss the ohotowalking event, but will try and catch it next time. They are great!
