Tree Trimming

It finally quit snowing around here (it actually just snowed last Friday!!) and it was all of a sudden a sunny 81 degrees yesterday! Today a little breeze is blowing and the weather is around 55, perfect for yardwork. People all over town are working in their yards and gardens. I think I will do the same!

Seen on Main Street: You'll Be Blessed

Along Main Street in American Fork is the most charming little shop, "You'll Be Blessed". Helen is the owner and is a delight to talk to. She is an amazing seamstress and the baby blessing outfits she makes are the cutest EVER. Check out her online store.

Ice Fishing at the American Fork Boat Harbor and WE ARE SEEING THE POLICE IN JULY!

We woke up to cold grey skies that were unfortunately in agreement with the forecast. Happily, it turned into a nice sunny day by noon. We took a drive down to the boat harbor after a quick trip to costco for spinach, milk and frozen berries. Oh, and a hot dog, slice of pizza and a very berry smoothie.

The Photowalking Utah group is up at the Moran Eye Center today and I bet they are having a blast. We have had some sickies around here this week and didn't want to get too far from home.

Also, we are kind of Sting and the Police fanatics, and the tickets for the Salt Lake City concert on July 19th went on sale today at 10, so we had to be home to snatch up ours before they were gone!! (This will be our fourth Sting/Police concert in four years... Am I lucky, or what??!!)

So, anyway, we were sad to miss the ohotowalking event, but will try and catch it next time. They are great!

Road Trip Flashback: Provo's Rock Canyon Park

This is one from the archives, clear back to February 2006. We were playing with our new GPS that we had gotten for Christmas, doing GPS mazes, with some friends. Kids from all over town had come to Rock Canyon Park to sled. div>

Inside Dough Boys and Flour Girls

So, went back today for lunch. YUM! We loved it and it is just as cute inside as it looks like it should be!

We strongly recommend the chowder and the cinnamon rolls, since that is what we had. But, from the looks and smells of everything and the happy customers, I think that you would be pleased with anything. They make everything from scratch, EVEN CROISSANTS.
We would go back soon, but I am afraid that wouldn't support this blogwriter's New Year's Resolutions. In a few weeks (maybe, days?), when we have given up our resolve, we'll go back and get some more cinnamon rolls. They are fabulously ooey and gooey.
*They give samples*

Got Liberty? Ron Paul Revolution at the AF Library

Of course I am voting for Mitt Romney, but this guy is pretty interesting. He has some fanatical supporters here in Utah and his name seems to be plastered everywhere. Is this just Utah or is the Ron Paul Revolution occurring all over the USA?

Angels Get Thirsty Too

They had a fun program at the North Hampton House this evening, a drive through Christmas Program with a Nativity and an opportunity to meet with Santa and his elf Bert. These are the angels from the Nativity, which was great. The costumes were fun and they had live goats and donkeys.

We only asked Santa for one thing... PLEASE FIX OUR PLAYSTATION.

What are you asking Santa for??

December Theme Day: Bridges

The December theme day is BRIDGES. American Fork, Utah has one little River, the American Fork River, which is where we got our town's name. It's a small river, thus we don't have any large memorable bridges in town, just several small bridges that cross over it in the canyon. (LOCALS: Correct me if I am wrong.)
This photo is of a geocacher in American Fork Canyon debating whether to try and cross the river here.

Check out the other City Daily Photo Bloggers participating in theme day this month:

Antique Bicycle

On my afternoon walk yesterday, I noticed a sign for L & L Hypnosis near Main Street in American Fork. While I was snapping a picture of the sign, a man came out and asked if I wanted some info, and I realized it was the same man from the poster - the man riding the old fashioned bike. His name is Lloyd Dison and he pulled out his antique bicycle for me and rode around the parking lot. The seat came up to my armpit, it was amazing to watch him get on!

Veteran's Day

Yesterday we attended the Veteran's Day Program, sponsored by the American Fork Cemetery Committee, at the Veteran's Memorial Hall on Center Street. The program was touching and poignant and really inspired patriotism. There were musical numbers, speeches and a special presentation of the flag by the veterans.

Peter Pan at American Fork High School

I LOVED this musical tonight. The singing, the dancing, the acting and the FLYING!! Peter was phenomenal!! The play opened last night and continues on next week. I absolutely recommend it to anyone who is in the area. Of course we didn't snap any pics during the performance (our little Easyshare doesn't do that well in low-light anyway) but caught this precious moment afterward. We don't actually know who these adorable little Peter and Wendy are, but they were posing with Peter Pan after the play and we snapped this picture.

Important Info:

Happy Halloween from American Fork Daily Photo!

Granted, this photo isn't super-duper-awesome quality, but the subject is super-duper-funny to me, so I posted it.

At the grocery store this afternoon, all of the workers were dressed up for Halloween, including this ghoul (or grim reaper?) who was putting bananas out on the display. I was trying not to look too weird by taking photos in the produce department, so I just snapped this and ran. I wish it had turned out a little better, but I can try again next year. I figured the masked produce man (woman??) wouldn't mind since it would be impossible to know who was underneath it all.

BOO!

Towne Cinemas

Towne Cinemas is our local dollar theater. Each seat is 1.50, anyone, anytime, anyday. It's a great deal!! The snacks are good and the theater has a fun ambience (read: funky oldness). My inlaws call it the "Sticky Shoe" and that is accurate sometimes, but it's not that bad - hey, we go there all the time!

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow in Concert

Last night we enjoyed a festive evening at the American Fork Amphitheater watching "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow in Concert." It was family-friendly with hayrides, spooky stories and fun games for kids... cat's cradle, stick pull, etc. They had soup, cocoa and other tasty treats for sale to warm you up, because it was a wonderful crisp fall evening. The show was fantastic, opened by the American Fork Children's Chorale.

We had a wonderful time and will definitely go again next year. The amphitheater is a great venue and the LIVE horse for the horseman was very exciting.

If you haven't seen it yet, and are in the area, see it tonight... it's the last night!!!

It's here!

The anticipations is over. Sigh.

Spent the morning waiting in line, fighting my natural impulses to pick up free Frisbees and water bottles, and thoroughly enjoying the rigmarole that was the IKEA grand opening in Draper. Didn't buy anything, but secretly made a mental wish list. When is my birthday/Christmas/Mother's Day?

Highlights: The DJ rockin' Love Shack, the awesome parking spot I got and the smell of doughnuts that was everywhere. Hey, where was mine?

Lowlights: People thinking my baby is a girl. He ain't NOBODY'S girlfriend, either.
